Client Onboarding
Every new project you add has an 'Onboarding' tab - it's the first tab you see, and it disappears once the checklist is complete. This article covers exactly what that checklist asks for on each project type, so you can collect everything from your client upfront.
Your clients never see this tab. When they sign in through your white label domain or a project invite, onboarding is hidden - completing it is done by you on the main dashboard, or by us if you'd prefer (we reach out to offer on every new project).
SEO projects
SEO onboarding is a five-step checklist. Every step can be skipped - anything you skip, we handle with best practices.
- Target keywords - the keywords your client wants to rank for. If you don't have any, skip it and we'll handle the research.
- Website access - to optimize the site and publish content, invite our editor account to the client's website. The 'View Instructions' button in the checklist walks through it for every major CMS.
- Blog CMS - choose our hosted blog (optimized for SEO and AI search engines), or we can publish to the client's existing blog instead.
- Content preferences - tone of voice, topics to avoid and whether weekly content is approved for automatic publishing. If there aren't any, we write to best practices.
- Google data - connect the client's Search Console, Analytics and Business Profile under the project's 'Integrations' tab, so rankings and traffic are tracked from day one.
In short, gather from your client: website access (or CMS credentials to invite us), access to their Google properties, and any keyword or content preferences they have.
PPC accounts
PPC onboarding is a four-part setup checklist, filled in directly on the tab. Unlike SEO, these aren't skippable - we need all four before the campaign can launch.
- Campaign preferences & budget - the campaign type (Search, Display, Shopping, Video or Performance Max), monthly ad budget and target locations.
- Google Ads account - the client's Google Ads Customer ID, the XXX-XXX-XXXX number at the top of any Google Ads page.
- Business description - what the business offers, what makes it unique and its main goals.
- Target demographic - the ideal customer profile: age range, interests, income level, locations and behaviors.
There's also an optional notes field for anything else - specific goals, competitor information or special requirements.
After the checklist
Once every item is ticked, the onboarding tab disappears and the service schedule starts. If you'd rather send us the details and have us complete onboarding for you, just message us through chat - we're happy to take it from there.
